About Us
Port Art Women is an Italian-English project created by two women, Ornella Urpis and Carlotta F Sassoon, who love art, technology, human society and believe in the value of art for human beings. The Port Art Women concept was born during the 2020 Covid Pandemic that both women experienced in different cities and countries: Trieste in Italy and London in the U.K. During this time in which on-line technolgies became a lifeline for millions of people that needed to work, both, aware of women’s difficulties, decided they wish improve the condition of female artists in the world giving them a dedicated space. The Port Art Women project is inspired to the life of former architect Barbara Fornasir, an artist from the Porto Vecchio of Trieste.
Port Art Women è un progetto italo-inglese di due donne, Ornella Urpis e Carlotta F Sassoon, che amano l’arte, la tecnologia, le scienze sociali e credono nel grande valore che ha l’arte per gli esseri umani. Entrambe vivono in luoghi diversi l’esperienza della emergenza sanitaria, una a Trieste e una a Londra. Percepiscono che il mondo è cambiato e che d’ora in avanti l’apertura verso le tecnologie digitali porterà l’arte sempre più verso altre dimensioni. Decidono di creare una nuova esperienza per le artiste; l’armonia e la bellezza si trasforma così in un progetto indirizzato alle donne di culture diverse per uscire, raccontarsi e farsi conoscere nello spazio infinito dell’etere. Consapevoli delle difficoltà delle donne, promuovono un miglioramento della condizione femminile nel mondo attraverso l’arte. Il progetto Port Art Women è ispirato alla vita della scomparsa Arch. Barbara Fornasir, artista del Porto Vecchio di Trieste

Women in Art
The female world is a little known universe. Women for millennia have been represented by men and used as a function of inspiration for their actions. Therefore, the feminine is still an unrecognized space to be brought out in all its nuances. Art today offers a chance for personal fulfillment and, if well managed, also for professionalism with an economic value in a world where more and more precariousness in the world of work and the difficulties of existence are relevant, especially for women. Our hope is that many artists from different places and cultures will be able to confront each other, support each other also thanks to their artistic production and spread their sensitivity around the world.
Donne & Arte
Il mondo femminile è un universo poco conosciuto. Le donne per millenni sono state rappresentate dagli uomini e usate come in funzione di ispirazione per le loro azioni. Il femminile pertanto risulta ancora come uno spazio misconosciuto da far affiorare in tutte le sue sfumature. L’arte offre oggi una chances di realizzazione personale e, se ben gestita, anche di professionalità con una valenza economica in un mondo dove sempre più la precarietà nel mondo del lavoro e le difficoltà dell’esistenza sono rilevanti, soprattutto per le donne. La nostra speranza è che molte artiste di luoghi e culture diverse possano confrontarsi fra di loro, sostenersi anche grazie alla loro produzione artistica e diffondere la loro sensibilità nel mondo.
