ARTIST Claudia Montedoro

Claudia Montedoro is an architect and illustrator born and raised in Sicily, Italy, however, she is currently based in Madrid, Spain.

Although she showed an interest in drawing and painting from an early age, she later lost contact with artistic drawing to focus on technical drawing during her studies in architecture. The return of art to her life would only come in 2020, at the onset of the global Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent imposition of quarantine. From that moment on, drawing and painting became his best allies to keep his mind free and calm: a drawing a day, every day. The drawing was back and never went away.

His illustrations are characterised by the vividness of the colours and the richness of the details, trying to capture the observer and transport him into the scene.

The artist is inspired by everyday life as well as her imagination and inner world, with a preference for female subjects and the strong presence of nature in her illustrations.

Claudia participated and won the third prize at the PORT ART WOMEN and DOLCE INDIA event: “Sketching India” in 2021.

Claudia Montedoro è un architetto e illustratrice nata e cresciuta in Sicilia, Italia, tuttavia, la sua sede attuale è a Madrid, Spagna.

Nonostante sin da piccola abbia mostrato interesse per il disegno e la pittura, ha successivamente perso il contatto con il disegno artistico per potersi concentrare su quello tecnico, durante il suo percorso di studi in architettura. Il ritorno dell’arte nella sua vita arriverà solo nel 2020, agli esordi della pandemia mondiale dovuta al Covid-19 ed alla successiva imposizione della quarantena. Da quel momento, il disegno e la pittura diventano i suoi migliori alleati per mantenere la mente libera e serena: un disegno al giorno, tutti i giorni. Il disegno era tornato per non andare più via.

Le sue illustrazioni si caratterizzano per la vivacità dei colori e la ricchezza di dettagli, cercando di catturare l’osservatore e di trasportarlo all’interno della scena.

Per i suoi lavori, l’artista si lascia ispirare dalla quotidianità così come dalla sua fantasia e dal suo mondo interiore, prediligendo soggetti femminili e la forte presenza della natura all’interno delle sue illustrazioni.
Per i suoi disegni, è solita mischiare diversi tipi di materiali, come pittura gouache e acquerelli con matite colorate e pastelli.

Claudia ha partecipato e vinto il terzo premio all’evento PORT ART WOMEN e DOLCE INDIA: “Sketching India” nel 2021.
