The First awarded at the “Women in Phases”Exhibition in Croatia, June 25, 2022 was Genni Vesprini, a well-known pencil and charcoal portrait painter, that is fascinated by the people who have so become her favorite subjects. Her work stands out for the refinement and mastery of the technique, the compositional balance, the chiaroscuro contrast, the expressive perfection. The work, tending towards interpretative realism, takes on an almost metaphorical value. Hers is a direct, essential, dry style, which enhances the personality and interior aspects by capturing the depth of the gaze. The face expresses a sense of mental stillness, a sort of meditative contemplation that hides deep mysteries.
The second awarded was “Not Madonna“ by Eva Kukkonen, the artist questions the role of women in modern society, with particular reference to motherhood. And she does so using an ancient technique, which is rediscovered with renewed interest in modern art – hand embroidery. In modern art, it is characterized by a “more liberal” approach, where the stitches combine in unconventional ways to create different textures and designs.
The third artwork is Isabella Goio’s “The metamorphosis of Afra” a video. The intertwining of performative art, video and body art presented by Isabella Goio immerses us in a fantastic world, made of signs, lights and colours that move on the performer’s naked body, giving them new life. This particular expressive form of modern art brings to mind tribal rites and practices, shamanic, almost animal-like atmospheres, where the body transformed into a mask, generates emotion and creative energy.

Grazie alla giuria e a tutte le artiste che hanno partecipato per il loro livello artistico e sensibilità.
Prima, Genni Vesprini, nota ritrattista a matite e carboncino, è affascinata dalle persone che sono diventate i suoi soggetti preferiti. La sua opera si distingue per la ricercatezza e la padronanza della tecnica, l’equilibrio compositivo, il contrasto chiaroscurale, la perfezione espressiva. L’opera, tendente al realismo interpretativo, assume una valenza quasi metaforica. Il suo è uno stile diretto, essenziale, asciutto, che valorizza la personalità e gli aspetti interiori cogliendo la profondità dello sguardo. Il volto esprime un senso di quiete mentale, una sorta di contemplazione meditativa che cela profondi misteri.
La seconda opera di interesse è “Not Madonna“ di Eva Kukkonen.
L’artista nell’opera mette in discussione il ruolo della donna nella società moderna, con particolare riferimento alla maternità. E lo fa usando una tecnica antica, che viene riscoperta con rinnovato interesse dall’arte moderna – il ricamo a mano. L’arte del ricamo, durante lunghi secoli e in tutti i continenti, segnava il percorso delle ragazze verso la femminilità. Nell’arte moderna, è caratterizzato da un approccio “più liberale”, dove i punti si combinano in modi non convenzionali per creare trame e disegni diversi.
La terza opera è l’intreccio tra l’arte performativa, il video e la body art presentata da Isabella Goio, “La metamorfosi di Afra”, ci immerge in un mondo fantastico, fatto di segni, luci e colori che si muovono sul corpo nudo della performer, dando loro nuova vita. Questa particolare forma espressiva dell’arte moderna, riporta alla memoria riti e prassi tribali, atmosfere sciamaniche, quasi animalesche, dove il corpo trasformato in maschera, genera emozione ed energia creatrice.
